Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes was first published in 1966. Since then it has been made into two different movies: Charly and Flowers for Algernon.

Charly was released as a DVD in 1968. Only two years after the publish of the book! This was the first movie remake of Flowers for Algernon. Based on the outline, it appears to follow the book pretty close. All of the main characters are included and it even won several awards. In 1969, it won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and was nominated for 5 other awards.

In February of 2000, a second movie was released based off of the book, Flowers for Algernon. It was released as a made-for -tv movie, and was not as successful as the first film. It follows the book for most respects, and includes all major characters. Flowers for Algernon, the movie was only nominated for one award; a Satellite Award in 2001.
